Third-country nationals require a national visa when their stay in Spain exceeds 90 days (in any 180-day period) for the purposes of work, study or establishing their residence.
General student visas are issued for stays longer than 90 days with the purpose of carrying out studies, training, internships or volunteering.
Depending on your nationality, for stays of less than 90 days a short-stay visa may be required (see Schengen visas).
